Kanye West is a father. The rapper's partner, Kim Kardashian, is "healthy and resting" after giving birth to a baby girl on Saturday.
Both parents have been quiet following news of the birth; neither have tweeted since heading to Cedars-Sinai medical centre in Los Angeles. It was Kim's sister Khloé, a fellow reality TV star, who finally broke the silence on Sunday. "I can not even begin 2describe the miracle that is now apart of our family," she wrote. "More info will come when the time is right!"
West could be forgiven for grousing about his baby's bad timing: the rapper's new album, Yeezus, is out on Tuesday, and the baby reportedly wasn't due for several weeks. But one day after Father's Day, let's imagine that the 36-year-old is turning over a new leaf. Maybe he willborrow a page from Jay-Z, adding a sentimental bonus track to Yeezus's 40-minute snarl.
Meanwhile, everyone is guessing about the new baby's name. Bookies have stopped taking bets on what Kardashian and West will call her: the best odds were for Krystal, Donda, Kara and South. "Who doesn't want a girl?" Kardashian said earlier this month. "They're the best and I know that's really what Kanye has always wanted. He wanted a little girl."
While West spent the weekend pacing hospital corridors, a giant version of his face was once again projected on buildings around the world. This time, viewers weren't just treated to minimalist previews of his new songs; West debuted a gory short film, inspired by Mary Harron's adaptation of American Psycho.
