ROYAL BABY ON THE WAY FOR SWEDISH PRINCESS
Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O'Neill announced on Tuesday that they were expecting their first child, with royal experts predicting the baby will be a major boost for the royal family.
The pair announced the news via the Royal Court's official website.
"Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O'Neill are delighted to announce that The Princess is expecting their first child. The birth is expected to take place in beginning of March of 2014," the statement read.
Roger Lundgren, royal expert and editor of Kungliga Magazine, was delighted with the news.
"This is very nice to hear, and it's great news for the royal family. Nothing boosts a royal family like a baby, it's a bigger deal than a wedding," he told The Local. "Babies are just so special, you could see that with William and Kate's."
The birth is not likely to make as many national headlines as that of Estelle's last year, according to Lundgren, who said Estelle's was more special as she is destined to be queen.
Lundgren predicts the baby will be raised to be more Swedish than American.
"The baby will be fifth in line to the throne, so it will be raised to be Swedish. However, we're living in a very globalized world now, I guess it's up to the king," he said.
